...until I will be in Barcelona.
Now, one thing that never ceases to amaze me is my fear of flying. Normally, when someone has an irrational phobia, it is generally assumed that frequently facing the situation will result in dissipation of the fear. I'm the opposite. The more I fly, the more I am afraid of flying - the next month is a big one too, I'll be on a plane for three different occassions. Who knows, maybe March/April is the month Steph surmounts her fear.
Despite the small stumbling block, I do love traveling as you may have noticed. I don't make excessive amounts of money, but I balance off the jet setting by living in squalor. This trip to Barcelona is a big one, I've never really been to Southern Europe. I've been to Italy once (meaning we took the tunnel under the Mont Blanc and visited the first city you hit in Italy - Aoste, ate a pizza, turned around and came back). My lingophile self is quite excited at the prospect of visiting a town with a different language as well. I started memorizing the dictionary last night - I got as far as B, so as long as all I need is agua, an almohada and azucar, I'm good. I'm hoping I won't have to deal with an apendicitis but at least I could describe it. Naturally the bilingual aspect of the region intrigues me as well. I'll be like a kid in a candy store.
In other news, my friend and fellow blogger is leaving the city. If you refer back to my post on 2008, you'll remember I mentioned my friends always move away. If you want to return from whence you came, just add me to your FB friend list and sit back and wait. I'm going to miss her loads!! But I wish her, C and little D all the best and I can't wait to visit them in the US of A.

September 2009
Here you go. (Thanks to my brother)
...and for the foreseeable future.
Also, the opening scene with the water and the boardwalk is the background on my computer from a picture I took at Christmas. Now you know.

O Canada
Canada - here I come. April 20th baby. Not quite sure how that happened, but I like adventure, right?
Speaking of which I had a fantastic weekend in the Alps. I was in "Valais". It's a funny area because one minute everything's in French, you go around the bend and bam auf Deutsch. Except, of course, it's Swiss German. There was tons of snow! I even made my first European snowman (picture taken with the snow man setting on my camera, of course). I enjoyed fantastic outdoor baths in Leukerbad and some delicious fondue. Mmmm....and then, a very very long drive back.

Lacking inspiration
I've started writing a few times now and no dice. My inspiration just isn't there, maybe I need to listen to some more Chicago or something.
This weekend, I'm hitting up Switzerland. That's pretty exciting. I do love visiting other countries, especially when there is the potential for German. The next week, one of my closest friends from Canada is coming and I'm going to have to put German on the back burner because I'm heading to Barcelona! I've never been to Spain and quite frankly I want to know if the rain is really all it's cracked up to be. March is turning out to be quite exciting, despite my lack of witty remarks.

It's sunny?
What's up with that? It's the second time this week. Something is seriously wrong. I'm feeling this overwhelming desire to go outside for a walk, but I don't know. I've been leery of walking in public ever since someone's Wii Fit told me I had balance issues and could look forward to embarassing myself in public. Thanks a lot Ms. Wii. That and I guess it's the fact that it's March break for the schools but there's been tons of weirdos around this week. I'm a generally jumpy kind of gal and this past week on my various expeditions on public transportation I've had strange people grab for my newspaper, taunt me, etc. Nothing serious, just some jerks joking around but still enough to make me uncomfortable and making me want to be home by sundown. Which sucks, because, well, interesting things happen after dark...dun dun dun.
In other news, did you know that you could make Strawberry Muffins? I mean, not that it would be impossible to make any kind of muffins you liked, but still. I guess you can. And how! Here's a recipie that looks cool, Florida Strawberry Muffins -I simply modified a blueberry muffin recipie but I'd like to try out this one. Maybe when I get some more berries.
I'll stop boring you there. Take care.
